Grade 304 (UNS S30400) is an austenitic stainless steel with a chemical configuration containing a minimum of 18% chromium and 8% nickel.
In heat transfer dynamics, 304 stainless steel offers a thermal conductivity of approximately 16.2 W/m·K at 100°C, balancing heat flux with high mechanical yield strength (typically ≥ 205 MPa). When compared to non-ferrous copper-nickel alloys, 304 stainless steel exhibits superior resistance to erosion-corrosion caused by high-velocity process fluids, allowing engineers to design thinner-walled tubes (such as ASTM A249 welded pipes) that enhance net heat transfer efficiency.
For process waters containing low-to-moderate chloride concentrations, 304 stainless steel is the default standard for engineering cost optimization. For seawater applications, we supply advanced materials including Super Duplex 2507, Duplex 2205, Incoloy 825, and Inconel 625. By heating the stainless steel pipes in a protective hydrogen-nitrogen gas atmosphere, we prevent oxidation, maintaining a bright, reflective finish.
