Grade 310S is a highly alloyed austenitic stainless steel engineered to withstand severe high-temperature environments. Characterized by a high chromium (24-26%) and nickel (19-22%) content, it maintains remarkable resistance to oxidation, sulfidation, and carburization. The "S" designation denotes low carbon (≤ 0.08%), which critically minimizes chromium carbide precipitation during welding and high-temperature service, preserving its intergranular corrosion resistance.
Under cyclic heating conditions up to 1035°C (1895°F) and continuous service up to 1150°C (2102°F), 310S forms a tenacious, protective chromium oxide scale (Cr₂O₃) that prevents further oxidation. Unlike lesser grades (such as 304 or 316), the rich nickel content ensures an entirely austenitic matrix, preventing sigma phase embrittlement at elevated working temperatures.
| Alloy Grade | Chromium (Cr) % | Nickel (Ni) % | Max Service Temp (Air) | Primary Advantage |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 310S (UNS S31008) | 24.0 - 26.0 | 19.0 - 22.0 | 1150°C (2102°F) | Tenacious oxidation resistance; low weld precipitation |
| 309S (UNS S30908) | 22.0 - 24.0 | 12.0 - 15.0 | 1000°C (1832°F) | Intermediate high heat resistance, cost-efficient |
| 316L (UNS S31603) | 16.0 - 18.0 | 10.0 - 14.0 | 870°C (1598°F) | Exceptional marine and acid resistance (Mo added) |
| Duplex 2205 | 22.0 - 23.0 | 4.5 - 6.5 | 300°C (572°F) | Extreme mechanical strength & stress corrosion resistance |
Over a decade of manufacturing breakthrough capillary tubes, heat exchanger pipes, and customized industrial coiled lines.
Operating six high-precision production lines for sheets and pipes, we implement strict quality controls complying with GB, ASTM, ASME, JIS, and EN standards. Our structural and chemical material grades encompass 304/304L, 316L, 321, 317L, 309S, 310S, and specialty nickel alloys like INCOLOY 800, Duplex 2205, Super Duplex 2507, Incoloy 825, and Inconel 625.
Our coiled tubing options range from 0.125" (3.175mm) to 1" (25.4mm) OD, with wall thicknesses up to 0.165" (3mm). Continuous lengths up to 32,800 feet (10,000 meters) facilitate rapid, splice-free umbilical setups.
By utilizing world-class continuous bright annealing technology, we offer online atmospheric heat treatment that produces a bright, ultra-clean inner and outer surface. Our in-house testing facility runs 100% pneumatic/hydrostatic tests, mechanical flaring/flattening tests, micro-structural analyses, hardness checks, tensile testing, and eddy current detection to prevent mechanical failures under high loads.
With a history of over ten years in specialized coil manufacturing, 80% of our production supports global export distribution channels, keeping deepsea energy fields operating reliably.
Sihe Steel's engineering products are deployed in more than 30 countries and regions, including the USA, Germany, Spain, South America, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Eastern Europe. We maintain agile shipping pipelines, utilizing secure custom-built wooden reels and robust hazard-packaging setups. We specialize in configuring subsea control lines, oil & gas injection lines, and high-temp instrumentation lines for severe deepwater exploration projects.
Precision-engineered modifications tailored to demanding fluid routing and thermal dynamics specs.
We support various materials (e.g., 304, 316L, 2205) and custom specifications, offering diameter profiles from 6.35mm to 19mm for stainless steel coils. This guarantees dynamic structural integrity in harsh installations.
Our capabilities include custom bending, high-density spiral forming, precision hydraulic drawing, and specialized cold rolling processes. These are designed specifically to maximize thermal transfer efficiency in industrial heat exchangers.
We employ high-precision laser cutting, mechanical abrasive cutting, and automated oxy-acetylene flame cutting. This ensures tight tolerances and clean, burr-free tube ends ready for orbital welding.
Our bright annealing treatment produces clean surfaces both inside and outside the tubes. We also offer mechanical polishing, electro-polishing, and chemical passivation options. This helps control fluid boundary drag and minimize corrosion risk.
We handle precision flanging, expansion, and reduction processes. These are commonly used in automotive exhaust networks, chemical processing pipelines, and high-pressure instrument connections.
Where temperature limits, chemical attacks, and high structural demands require premium alloys.
Understanding supply chains, structural applications, and the transition toward green energy.
As heavy industry shifts toward reducing emissions and boosting thermal efficiency, demand for high-temperature alloys like 310S is growing. Modern plants operate at higher temperatures to maximize thermal cycle efficiency. 310S stainless steel plays a key role in next-generation waste-to-energy (WTE) incineration, gasification reactors, and concentrated solar power (CSP) technologies utilizing molten salt storage.
Additionally, the transition toward hydrogen energy relies on steam methane reforming (SMR) piping systems that can withstand high temperatures without losing hydrogen permeability resistance or showing carbide breakdown.
In regions like the Gulf of Mexico (USA) and the North Sea (Europe), subsea extraction requires long, seamless coiled tubing to connect deep wells to surface platforms. Alloys like Duplex 2205, Incoloy 825, and 310S are essential for subsea umbilicals because they resist chloride stress corrosion cracking.
In highly industrialized areas in Germany and East Asia, precision capillary tubing is crucial for automated chemical plants, analytical equipment, and electronics manufacturing. In these fields, dimensional tolerance and inside-diameter cleanliness are critical.
