The inclusion of titanium (at least 5 times the carbon content) ensures titanium carbides precipitate preferentially over chromium carbides when exposed to temperatures between 427°C (800°F) and 816°C (1500°F).
The "H" designation refers specifically to the elevated carbon content (0.04% to 0.10%), which dramatically improves creep strength and rupture properties at temperatures exceeding 538°C compared to standard 321 or 304 grades.
